Official Highlights Growing Social Opposition to Federal Gov't in US

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Americans are becoming increasingly discontented with the central government, a senior Iranian military official underlined, noting that the growing public unease in the US stems from the White House’s support for Israel and despotic rulers of reactionary regimes.

The US politicians’ bellicose policies are sources of strong disagreement between the American nation and the White House, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Sunday.

He contended that Washington’s unimaginable financial and military supports for the Zionist regime of Israel have triggered widespread opposition within the US society.

The US spends “billions of dollars for the Zionist regime’s rulers each year, which are mainly for military use,” the commander explained.

According to a 2012 report by the Congressional Research Service, “US Foreign Aid to Israel”, the United States had provided Israel $115 billion in bilateral assistance as of 2012.

Jazayeri further noted that another reason behind the US nation’s opposition to the federal government was the White House’s trade, political, military and cultural ties with the despotic rulers of “dependent and reactionary” regimes.

“The American people witness with concern the atrocities and homicide that are taking place under the patronage of this country’s government and in collaboration with those illegitimate rulers all over the world,” he pointed out.

The commander then pointed to the growing trend of social discontent in the US, and insisted that American people in different states should be entitled to choose their desired governing system, without any pressure from the central government.

“People in different US states have a right to determine the administrative system in their own states, and the central government should not hinder the process,” he underlined.

Highlighting the popular movements in support of independence in many states, Jazayeri made it clear that Washington should give those states the right to secede, and the opposing states should have the right of autonomy.

In January 2013, more than 100,000 people who signed an online petition calling on the Obama administration to allow Texas to secede from the United States and create an independent government received an official 476-word response from the White House.

The short answer was no.

However, the Texas secession movement has continued to call for its demands. The movement has been simmering for decades, but gained momentum after the re-election of Obama.
