MP Calls for Iran's Stronger Reaction to US, Israeli Rhetoric

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian parliamentarian on Sunday called on the country’s diplomatic apparatus to give a “revolutionary response” to the absurd remarks made by the US and Israeli officials.

Addressing an open session of the parliament on Sunday, Ataollah Soltani Sabour said a crushing response is needed to the nonsensical remarks made by (officials of) the US, Israel and their allies “so that the enemies would get out of their hallucinations … and realize that they could not offend this great nation.”

The lawmaker’s statements came as US officials continue to repeat their rhetoric of threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Senior US administration officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry, have insisted in recent weeks that the military option against Tehran is still on the table.

In an interview on January 23, Kerry said that if Iran resumes uranium enrichment beyond the five-percent level, “then the military option that is available to the United States is ready and prepared to do what it would have to do.”

Several senior Iranian officials have slammed the belligerent rhetoric.

Meantime, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari has stressed that if Iran comes under attack, it will threaten the enemy from within.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan has also dismissed US officials’ threats, saying that Iran’s response to any aggression would be so crushing that the enemy would regret it.
