Iranian FM: No Limit on Tehran-Algiers Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Islamic Republic of Iran observes no restriction on the expansion of all-out relations and cooperation with Algeria, the Iranian foreign minister underlined.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced on Sunday that Tehran and Algiers can expand their all-out relations in light of the age-old ties between the two nations.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Algerian Deputy Foreign Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelmadjid Bouguerra here in Tehran.
Zarif also expressed the hope that reciprocal visits by the two country’s officials would serve the purpose of promotion of ties between the two countries, particularly in trade and economic fields.
The visiting African diplomat, for his part, said the Algerian president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, is determined to boost relations with Iran in all fields.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with Speaker of Algeria’s National Assembly Abdul Qadir bin Saleh on the sidelines of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran in August 2012, said that the African state has been a good partner for Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
“Algeria is Iran’s good partner and an anti-Israeli resistance front since the victory of the Islamic Revolution,” said the Leader.
In early August, 2013, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Islamic Republic is completely ready to expand and deepen mutual relations with Algeria in economic, cultural and political fields and believes that the settlement of regional issues requires the participation of regional countries.
