Sepahan Rues Missed Chances against Al Ahli in ACL
TEHRAN (Tasnim)– Iran’s Sepahan football team suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat against Al Ahli of the UAE in Group D of the AFC Champions League.
In the match held on Wednesday in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr, Ahmed Khalil gave the visiting a lead in the 39th minute.
Substitute Sergio Van Dijk equalized the match in the 74th minute, however the Indonesian-Dutch striker missed several chances.
In the dying moments of the match, Al Ahli took advantage of a counter-attack and opened Sepahan’s goal for the second time.
Elsewhere, Al Sadd of Qatar was held to a 2-2 home draw against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal.
