Iran’s President, Pakistan’s PM Discuss Joint Measures against Terrorism
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a phone conversation with the Pakistani prime minister underlined the necessity for Tehran and Islamabad’s joint effort to combat terrorism in the region.
“We want the two countries and governments to have extensive cooperation in fighting terrorism in the region,” Rouhani said in a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.
“In this regard” Rouhani said “we are ready for cooperation at any level with the Pakistani government to secure the two countries’ borders.”
Meantime, president Rouhani called on Pakistan to take serious and swift action to free Iranian border guards held hostage by the Pakistan-based terrorist group, Jaish-ul-Adl.
He cautioned that these terrorists are seeking to damage relations between the two Muslim and neighboring countries.
For his part, Sharif reassured Rouhani that Islamabad will take all necessary measures to ensure freedom of the Iranian hostages.
The Pakistani prime minister also pledged not to let terrorists use Pakistan’s soil for anti-Iran actions.
The conversation came after the so-called Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group claimed that they had killed one of the abductees, called Jamshid Danaeifar.
