Team Melli Travels to South Africa

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national football team (Team Melli) traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa Tuesday morning to hold a training camp ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

With just two months remaining before Iran steps out against Nigeria, Carlos Queiroz arranged a training camp in the African country from April 15 to May 7.

Iran will hold the training camp with just 11 players in South Africa since Esteghlal, Tractor Sazi, Foolad and Sepahan will have to participate in the Asian Champions League. The European-based players are also involved in their leagues.

Iran is going to play friendly matches with South African clubs in the camp. The Asian heavyweight will likely play Mozambique in South Africa.

Iran has been drawn along with Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2014 World Cup.

Iran will play Nigeria in Curitiba on June 16.
