Turkish Delegation Looks for Investment Opportunities in Iranian Province

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A large commercial delegation from Turkey will arrive in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr on Sunday to look for investment opportunity.

The delegation, comprising 62 major traders hailing from the Turkish city of Izmir, plans to identify and assess investment opportunities in the Persian Gulf coastal province, Ali Akbar Sharifpour Bushehri, head of Bushehr’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines told the Tasnim News Agency.

He said the group will pay a visit to the South Pars gas and oil field in Assaluyeh and hold meeting with the local officials.

The South Pars field has 14 trillion cubic meters of natural gas -or about eight percent of the world’s reserves- and more than 18 billion barrels of liquefied natural gas resources.

Meeting with the traders and provincial officials of Bushehr and visiting the Bushehr Special Economic Zone will also be on the Turkish delegation’s agenda, Sharifpour Bushehri noted.

He hoped that the trip will herald enhanced cooperation between the two countries, especially between Bushehr and Izmir, in areas like trade, tourism, investment, etc.

Iran and Turkey have announced that they are determined to increase the value of bilateral trade exchange to 30 billion dollars by 2015.

Iran, which owns the world’s largest natural gas reserves, is Turkey’s second biggest gas supplier after Russia.

The volume of Iran-Turkey annual trade exchanges reached roughly $16 billion in 2011, and soared past $22 billion by the end of 2012.
