Iran Drops Six Places in FIFA Rankings

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - In the last edition of the FIFA Rankings before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Iran dropped six places.

Iran has dropped six places to 43rd in the newly updated FIFA rankings, released on Thursday. The west Asian powerhouse leads the confederation.

Reigning world champion Spain remained top of the rankings, followed by Germany and Brazil.

Iran’s rival in World Cup Group F, Argentina climbed two places to No. 5. Also, Bosnia and Herzegovina moved four places up to 21 and Nigeria remained unchanged in 44.

Iran will open its World Cup campaign against Nigeria on June 16 in Curitiba.

The Iranian football team is also scheduled to face Argentina on June 21 and Bosnia and Herzegovina, June 25.
