Argentina Defeats Bosnia-Herzegovina in World Cup Opener

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Argentina national football team defeated World Cup debutant Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group F in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.

Bosnia's Sead Kolasinac scored an own goal in the second minutes of the match.

Lionel Messi scored Argentina’s second goal in the 65th minute. The Barcelona star was also selected Man of the Match.

Vedad Ibisevic pulled a goal back for Bosnian team with six minutes remaining.

"I'm happy with the result and with how we played in some periods of the game. But it's also true that we failed in some parts, partly because of my mistakes,” Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella said in the post match news conference.

"It was a hard, close game but we improved in the second half when Higuaín came on. The 2-0 was too much for how we played, I think the 2-1 was a fair result," he added.

Argentina will play Iran on June 21, while Bosnia and Herzegovina face Nigeria.
