Iran Participating in IPC Shooting World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian delegation will travel to Germany on Thursday to take part at the 2014 IPC Shooting World Championships.

The competitions will be held in Suhl, Germany, from July 18 to 26 and around 300 athletes from 53 countries are expected to compete in the 14 individual and 14 team medal events.

The championships will be the first major international Championships for athletes of all nationalities following the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Six shooters (three men and three women) will feature the Iranian team in the competitions.

The last IPC Shooting World Championships took place in July 2010 in Zagreb, Croatia. A total of 246 athletes from 43 countries competed in 31 medal events, including 17 individual and 14 team events.

“We are going to win the medal in the tournament,” Iran coach Hossein Amiri said. “The Iranian shooters are well-prepared after four training camps. I think we can win gold medal especially at the women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing (R1)."

“The 2014 IPC Shooting World Championships is also a good opportunity for our shooters to prepare for the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games,” he added.
