Esteghlal Loses to USM Alger in Friendly

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Esteghlal was defeated by Algeria champion USM Alger 3-2 in a friendly match held in Turkey on Tuesday.

Arash Borhani was on target for the Iranian team in the 10th minute but Mohamed Rabie Meftah equalized the match five minutes later.

Nadji gave the Algerian team a lead in the 28th minute. With one minute remaining to halftime, Borhani found the back of the net from the penalty spot.

Bourdim scored the winning goal for USM Alger in the 77th minute.

Union Sportive Médina d'Alger, known as USM Alger, claimed Algerian Super Cup and Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 in 2014.

Esteghlal has already lost to Bursaspor 2-0 on Friday in its first friendly match.

The Blues are preparing for the 14th edition of the Iran Professional League, which will kick off from July 31.

Esteghlal finished in fifth place in the last season.
