Spain Taking Nothing for Granted against Iran, Coach Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Spain basketball coach Juan Antonio Orenga said that they will not underestimate Iran in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Spain is scheduled to face Iran in its opening match at the Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada.

“We’re well-prepared for the competitions but we still have a long road ahead of us,” Orenga was quoted as saying by libertaddigital.com.

“First game is always difficult. Iran has the great players and they’re champion of Asia. We have a lot of respect for them. We are going to do our best in our two first games against Iran and Egypt,” he added.

“We are a great team as well with the intention of playing the final against the United States or against another team, however the road is difficult,” Orenga said.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup starts on August 30 with 24 teams set to compete for the championship.
