Rouhani: No Obstacle to Expansion of Iran, Vietnam Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian president on Tuesday hailed common stances adopted by Iran and Vietnam in the international arenas and called for continued cooperation between the two countries.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Vietnam have always been unanimous over the international issues, particularly in the United Nations, and their cooperation and consultation should continue in the future as well,” President Hassan Rouhani said in a meeting with Vietnam’s new ambassador to Tehran on Tuesday.

“There is no obstacle to the development of relations between Iran and Vietnam,” the president added.

He also invited the East Asian country’s president to pay an official visit to Iran.

The Vietnamese envoy, for his part, said Hanoi attaches great significance to its relations with Tehran, and called for the expansion of economic relations between the two nations.

Vietnam and Iran established diplomatic relations on August 4, 1973.

Vietnam was among the first countries to recognize the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
