Hezbollah Rejects West’s Claim about Fighting Terrorism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior official with the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement dismissed as “sheer lie” the claims made by the US and the West regarding their determination to clamp down on the Takfiri terrorists, and said the claims are merely aimed at fulfilling their own interests.

“In the fight against the Takfiris, we do not count on the West and the US, because battling those groups is possible only with the help of noble and genuine individuals,” Seyed Hashem Safi al-Din, the head of Hezbollah's Executive Council was quoted as saying by Al-Ahed News website.

The senior official also debunked the Western claims on mobilization of forces to fight the terrorist groups such as the ISIL, and added, “They (Westerners) have no objective but to fulfill their interest and carry out their usual projects on waging civil and religious wars in the countries.”

His remarks came after the US said on Friday that it had created a "core coalition" to battle the ISIL militants in Iraq, calling for broad support from allies and partners around the world.

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a militant group in Iraq and Syria believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries. The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.
