Iran Defeats India at Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran swept India in straight sets 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-15) in the 2014 Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The Iranian outfit started the campaign with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-13) victory over Qatar on Saturday.

Titleholder Iran is scheduled to face Bahrain on Sunday.

The 15 teams are divided into four pools with single round robin system in the preliminary round for four days.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinal while the lower-ranked sides will be relegated to contest the 9th-15th classification round.

Pool A consists of the host Sri Lanka, Australia, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.

Iran, India, Qatar and Bahrain are in Pool B.

Pool C comprises China, Chinese Taipei, Maldives and Hong Kong.

Only three teams Japan, Korea and Turkmenistan are in Pool D.

Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship is held every two years. The top four teams will get qualified directly to the FIVB Boys U-19 World Championship 2015.
