Iran’s Sabre Team Seizes Silver in Asian Games

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s saber team won a silver medal at the 2014 Asian Games on Wednesday.

The Iranian fencing team comprising Mojtaba Abedini Shormasti, Seyed Ali Esmaeilzadeh Pakdaman, Mohammad Rahbarikoyakhi and Farzad Baher Arasbaran lost to the Team Korea of Bon-gil, Kim Jung-hwan, Oh Eun-seok and Won Woo-young 45-26 in Goyang Gymnasium, on the outskirts of Incheon, the host city of the 17th Asiad.

Bronze medals went to China and Hong Kong.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
