Asian Games: Iranian Men’s Kabaddi Reaches Final

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Formidable Iranian men’s kabaddi team defeated powerhouse Pakistan in the 17th Asian Games on Thursday.

Iran beat Pakistan 24-12 at the Songdo Global University Gymnasium and advanced to the final match. Iran will play India, who has won the kabaddi gold in each edition since the sport was added in the 1990 Games, on Friday.

“We have a difficult match against India tomorrow since they are the most powerful team. We are well-prepared in terms of physical readiness but Indians are more experienced than we are,” Iran coach Gholamreza Mazandarani said.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
