Javelin Thrower Khalvandi Claims Gold in Asia Para Games

INCHEON (Tasnim) – Iran’s Mohammad Khalvandi bagged a gold medal in the Men's Javelin Throw - F57 in the 2014 Asia Para Games on Wednesday.

Khalvandi, who claimed a gold medal in the 2012 Paralympic Games, won the gold with a throw of 42.16meters.

“I dedicate my medal to my mother, my wife and my son. I am sure that I will win a gold medal in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio,” Khalvandi said.

Syrian Mohamad Mohamad finished in second place with 40.08meters.

Vietnamese Ngoc Hung Cao won the bronze medal with 39.87meters.

Iran has previously won 17 gold medals in the games.

Vahid Keshtkar claimed a gold medal in the men's 400 m freestyle S13.

Erfan Hosseini won the gold medal in the men's javelin throw F12–13.

Sareh Javanmardi earned the gold medal in the Mixed 50 meter pistol SH1.

Discus thrower Alireza Mokhtari clinched a gold medal in the men’s F51/52/53.

Peyman Nasiri won the gold medal of the Men's 1,500m T20 final.

Sareh Javanmardi claimed a gold medal in the Women's P2-10m Air Pistol-SH1.

Mohammad Alvanpour clinched a gold medal in the Men's Javelin Throw - F55/56.

Powerlifter Amir Jafari Arangah seized the gold medal in the Men's -59kg.

Mahnaz Amini claimed a gold medal in the Women's Shot Put - F57.

Younes Seifipour won a gold medal in the Men's Shot Put - F32.

Alireza Mokhtari clinched a gold medal in the Shot Put - F53/54.

Mahnaz Amini grabbed a gold medal in the Women's Javelin Throw - F57.

Danial Souraniyan won a gold medal in the Men's Shot Put - F35/36.

Sadegh Beit Sayah claimed a gold medal in the Men's Discus Throw - F41.

Iran’s football 5-a-side won the title of the 2014 Asia Para Games.

Mohammadali Malekpour earned the gold medal in the Men's Discus Throw - F54/55.

Sajad Mohammadian seized a gold medal in the Men's Shot Put - F42.

The 2014 Asian Para Games started on October 18 in Incheon, South Korea, and will last until 24. The games feature around 5,000 athletes competing across 23 sports.
