Iran’s Judiciary Chief Warns of Plots to Tarnish Image of Islam

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Judiciary chief cautioned that Islam is facing the threat of “distortion”, and lashed out at the US and the ISIL terrorist group for misrepresenting Islam.

In comments on Wednesday, Ayatollah Saddeq Amoli Larijani warned that Islam could face the threat of “distortion and misrepresentation” at any time.

On the one hand, an American version of Islam is now being propagandized all over the world, on the other hand, an untrue version of Islam is being represented by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group, which has been created by the US and the Europeans themselves, he added.

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani underlined that the terrorist groups have nothing to do with the true Islam, noting that what they introduce as Islam is indeed to “damage the image of Islam” and tarnish the Islamic doctrines.

In relevant comments in September, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined that the terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIL have been fabricated by the West and its regional proxies.

“Although, the Western countries, particularly the US, claim that they have nothing to do with these groups (al-Qaeda and ISIL), there is ample evidence suggesting that these movements have been fabricated by Western powers and their regional elements,” the Leader said at the time.
