Hezbollah Official Lauds Palestinians for Defending Holy Quds

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior figure of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement praised the Palestinian nation in their defense of the holy Quds and the Islamic sanctities.

“The recent events that occurred ...in Palestine proved that the spirit of resistance is strong and stable,” The head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, said in a speech in Zahiyeh neighborhood, south of the Lebanese capital of Beirut, on Thursday night.

He emphasized that if the Zionist regime of Israel believes that the Resistance Movement would retreat from defending the holy Quds and other sanctities “they live in illusion”.

Latest reports said that Israeli forces on Thursday shot dead a 32-year-old Palestinian man in East al-Quds.

The forces shot dead Moataz Hejazi after storming his house in the Abu Tor neighborhood of East al-Quds. The 32-year old Palestinian had spent 11 years in an Israeli jail and was released in 2012.

Meanwhile, clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters broke out in the area. Israeli soldiers fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy site at the heart of the clashes, was also shut down for almost an entire day to all visitors.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas denounced Israel's actions as "tantamount to a declaration of war" and his Fatah party called for a "day of rage" on Friday.
