Football Kenya Federation President Confirms Iran Friendly

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Kenya Football Federation Sam Nyamweya said that they will play Iran in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on November 14.

“We have received an invitation from Iran Football Federation to play their national team on November 14. This is another opportunity for our technical bench to continue building a formidable outfit for our country," Nyamweya said.

"We will definitely honor the build up and our coach Bobby Williamson will be asked to name travelling squad in due course. We want to have as many build up matches as possible to help Williamson and his technical bench to get right combination for Harambee Stars’,” Nyamweya told Goal.com.

Iran is currently ranked 51 on FIFA rankings and Kenya is placed 116.

The Asian team, which is handled by former Real Madrid and Portugal head coach Carlos Quieroz, is preparing itself for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.

Iran has been pitted against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Bahrain in Group C of the tournament.

The competition will be held in Australia from January 9 to 31.
