Iran Water Polo Claims Silver in Asian Beach games

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran water polo team defeated host Thailand to win the silver medal of the 2014 Asian Beach Games on Saturday.

The Iranian team beat Thailand 18-7 at the Karon North in Phuket.

Kazakhstan claimed the gold medal with a 20-3 win over Indonesia.

Bronze medal went to Kuwait in the round robin tournament.

The Iranian athletes are competing in 17 out of 26 sports in the event.

About 3,500 athletes and officers from 45 countries in Asia are participating in the games.

The first Asian Beach Games was held in Indonesia in 2008.

Vietnam will host the fifth edition in Khanh Hoa Province and Da Nang City in 2016.
