Persepolis Beats 10-Man Golgohar in Iran’s Hazfi Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Persepolis defeated Golgohar of Sirjan in penalty shootout on Thursday and advanced to Iran’s Hazfi Cup semi-final.

The Iranian giant, who defeated its arch rival Esteghlal in Tehran derby in Iran Professional League on Sunday, beat Golgohar 4-3.

Golgohar was reduced to 10 men in the 35th minute when Mehran Golzari was sent off for a straight red card.

The match ended 0-0 in the regular time. In the 100th minute, Persepolis defender Hamid Ali Askar brought down Golgohar striker and the referee showed the penalty spot. Mokhtar Jomezadeh converted the penalty into the goal but Persepolis defender Mohsen Bengar equalized the match four minute later.

In penalty shootout, Persepolis defeated the host 4-3 and will play the winner of Zob Ahan in the semi-final.
