Supreme Leader Sends Message to Participating Units in Army Wargames

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei sent a message to the forces participated in massive military drills in south and southeast of Iran, hailing their efforts in carrying out different operations.

The message was delivered on Monday by the General Mohammad Shirazi, head of the Iranian Commander-in-Chief office, who paid a visit to a wargame zone in the southeastern port city of Jask.

He also held a meeting with high-ranking Army commanders overseeing the military drills, which began on December 25.

General Shirazi also expressed satisfaction with the media coverage of the drills, but noted that the entire tactics practiced during the wargame would not be made public as they are considered as confidential military information.

The top officer said Ayatollah Khamenei recommends that the armed forces should demonstrate their abilities, however, they should not reveal the military tactics.

Codenamed “Muhammad Rasulullah” (Muhammad, the messenger of God), the exercises are underway in an area of 2.2 million square kilometers, stretching from the northern Indian Ocean (10 degrees latitude) to the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.
