Int’l Energy Exhibition Opens on Iran’s Kish Island
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The 11th International Kish Energy Exhibition opened on Iran’s southern island of Kish with 130 domestic and several foreign companies in attendance.
The exhibition officially started work on Monday evening in a special ceremony attended by Managing Director of the Kish Free Zone Organization and a number of oil ministry officials.
It had previously been announced that 70 foreign companies from 22 countries would participate in the international event, but the event was attended by a few number of representatives of foreign companies.
On the reason behind the decrease in number of foreign companies in the exhibition, Mahmoud Seddiqi, the director of the exhibition, said the failure to reach a final agreement by Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) by the November 24 deadline was the main reason behind their presence.
Iran and the Group 5+1 are now in nuclear talks with the aim of hammering out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program. The two sides wrapped up a week of intensive nuclear talks in Vienna on November 24 without reaching a long-awaited deal they were supposed to hammer out by the self-imposed November 24 deadline.
The energy exhibition on Kish island is planned to feature the latest opportunities and potentials for investment as well as the accomplishments in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemical, water, electricity and renewable energy production.
A number of expert forums are scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the exhibition.
Developing and expanding technologies and techniques, the chain of procurement and production in energy projects, and holding a number of meetings with different themes are also on the agenda.
