Iran Olympic Team Beats Kazakhstan's Taraz in Friendly

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Iranian Olympic football team defeated Kazakhstan Premier League Taraz in a friendly match on Sunday.

The Iranian U-23 football team, which is preparing itself to participate in the AFC U-23 Championship 2016, beat Taraz 4-1 in its training camp in Turkey.

Arsalan Motahari opened the scoring just two minutes into the match. Alireza Naghizadeh extended Iran's lead in the 16th minute.Vahid Heydarieh scored Iran's third goal in the 23rd minute. Four minutes later Hossein Kanaani found the back of the Taraz's net.

Taraz pulled a goal back in the 78th minute.

Iran has been drawn in Group C of the AFC U-23 Championship 2016 along with Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Palestine, and Afghanistan.

The competition will serve as the Olympic Games qualifiers in every alternate edition. The top three teams from the 2016 edition will represent Asia at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

Iran has not participated in the Olympics since 1976 Montreal.
