Iran's President Thanks Nation for February 11 Mass Rallies

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani praised the “meaningful and enthusiastic” presence of people in Wednesday rallies marking the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

In a message released on Thursday, President Rouhani admired people for participating in the nationwide rallies in the current “delicate and decisive” conditions.

He said the unity and solidarity shown in the demonstrations disappointed the enemies.

Millions of Iranian people of different social strata, carrying flags and banners in support of the Islamic Republic, poured into the streets on Wednesday in nationwide mass rallies to mark the 36th anniversary of the the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

More than 1,000 cities and over 5,000 villages across Iran saw demonstration for the national celebration.

The huge crowd of demonstrators in the rallies also paid tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, under whose leadership the revolutionary movements triumphed over the despotic regime of Pahlavi on February 11, 1979.
