VP Renews Iran’s Push for Tourism Boom

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian first vice-president reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to boost the tourism industry, which he described as a contributory factor in the national development.

“The administration… regards tourism as new global phenomenon and an industry effective in national development,” Eshaq Jahangiri said at the opening of a tourism exhibition in Tehran on Thursday.

The administration is resolved to improve and expand tourism in different fields, he added.

Jahangiri said cooperation between the Interior Ministry and the security forces has led to an upgraded level of security for the foreign tourists visiting Iran.

The vice president also called on the international organizations to try to introduce the true image of Iran to the world tourists and to help the country preserve its tourism resources.

Back in May 2014, when Iran marked the Cultural Heritage Week, President Hassan Rouhani emphasized that foreign tourists should be treated with respect and Iranian-Islamic hospitality.

He also said that the proper treatment of foreign visitors is much more important than the attractions of archeological sites.

The president had also called for more active presence of private sector in the field of tourism and handicrafts, voicing Iran’s readiness to provide support for the private sector.
