Iran-Built Cement Factory Launched in Venezuela
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A cement factory constructed by Iranian engineers and experts came into operation in Venezuela.
Cerro Azul Cement Factory was launched in the city of Maturin, 500 kilometers east of the capital, Caracas, in an official ceremony attended by Iranian Deputy Industry, Mine, and Trade Minister Mehdi Karbasian and his Venezuelan counterpart Fernando Martinez.
Karbasian said the factory symbolizes the technical and engineering capabilities of the Islamic Republic.
Martinez, for his part, hailed the inauguration of the factory concurrent with the 36th anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.
He added that the factory will play a major role in meeting Venezuela’s growing demands for cement.
Cerro Azul was built by Iranian experts using state-of-the-art technology and advanced engineering techniques and now it is capable of producing one million tons of cement per year.
The government of Venezuela invested $400 million to build the factory.
