Iran's Persepolis Beaten by Lekhwiya in AFC Champions League

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis of Iran's dream of advancing to the AFC Champions League knock out stage was left in tatters Wednesday night when the Iranian team suffered a 3-0 lose to Qatar's Lekhwiya.

Lekhwiya moved to the top of the Group A with just one round of matches remaining.

The victory took the Qatari club on to 10 points from five games and a draw in its final match against Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia in two weeks' time will ensure the club progresses to the Round of 16.

Youssef Msakni, Nam Tae-hee and Ali Afif found the back of the net in the final 21 minutes.

Persepolis is now second in Group A and needs a victory over Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor on May 6 in Tehran.
