Saudi-Led Coalition Not to Reach Goals in Yemen: Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen's ambassador to Syria underlined that despite the devastating consequences of the Saudi-led war on Yemen, the coalition will not achieve its objectives in the Arabian Peninsula country.
Speaking in an interview with the Tasnim News Agency, Mohammad Faraj al-Shouhobi described the so-called Decisive Storm military operation carried out by Riyadh and its Arab allies in Yemen as 'destructive storm', saying that for all its devastating consequences, the aggression has enhanced unity among the Yemeni people.
"The invasion was aimed at destroying Yemen's infrastructure and breaking the will of its people, but the nation will not be defeated and they (aggressors) know this," Shouhobi stated.
He further underlined that the "Saudi enemy and its puppet allies will not achieve their goals in Yemen," adding that all of the excuses mentioned for attacking the Arab country are false and illusory.
On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to militarily interfere in Yemen's internal affairs by launching deadly air strikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
The Saudi-led coalition announced on April 21 that its military operation "Decisive Storm" has ended, but hours later, air strikes and ground fighting resumed.
According to the spokesman of the Yemeni Army, the Saudi-led war on the Arab country killed 2,051 people, most of them civilians.
