Army Ground Force Drills Enter 2nd Stage in Central Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The second stage of military exercises, launched by the Iranian Army Ground Force, kicked off in central Iran on Saturday morning.
During the second phase of the military drills, codenamed Beit ul-Muqaddas 27, Iranian missiles “Naze’at” and “Fajr-5” were fired in the region of Aran and Bidgol, located in the central province of Isfahan.
Army Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said upgraded missiles will be test-fired at this stage of the war game.
The 27th edition of Beit ul-Muqaddas exercises began on May 21.
Different Ground Force units from the infantry, armored, artillery and rapid reaction divisions, as well as commandos and airborne forces take part in the weeklong drills, held in three operational zones across Iran.
According to Pourdastan, the war game aims to evaluate the Ground Force’s new equipment and practice and assess advanced tactics suitable for fighting proxy wars or a coalition of forces.
“Fast mobility, rapid deployment of forces in the shortest possible time and the use of heavy fire are among the unique features of the war game,” the commander had announced before the drill begins.
