Iran Too Strong for Guatemala in FINA World Water Polo Development
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran crushed Guatemala 20-2 in its opening match in the 5th FINA World Men’s Water Polo Development on Sunday.
The match held in Group B in Tehran’s Shahid Shiroudi Stadium in front of Iranian cheering fans.
“I am happy due to defeating Guatemala but no matter how many goals we score. We want to evaluate our abilities in the tournament,” Iran coach Sirous Taherian said.
“ I think Austria and Malta are Iran’s rivals in the FINA World Men’s Water Polo Development,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Uruguay beat Kuwait 10-7, Malta defeated Azerbaijan 13-6 and Austria grabbed a 12-6 win over Indonesia.
Host Iran will play Indonesia on Tuesday.
