Iran's Policies Aimed at Promoting Peace: Spokeswoman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham underlined that the policies of Iran, as an influential and stable country, are aimed at promoting peace, friendship and cooperation based on "constructive interaction".

Speaking Wednesday in a meeting with Head of Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Maxim Minchev in Tehran, Afkham also touched upon the ongoing crises facing the Middle East region and said Tehran regards combatting terrorism and extremism and putting an end to the crises imposed on the region as vital.

"Iran regards fighting against extremism and terrorism, restoring peace and tranquility and quelling imposed crises as very important and necessary," she stated.

Elsewhere in her remarks, Afkham, who is also the media and public diplomacy director at the Iranian foreign ministry, pointed to the great capacities of Iran and Bulgaria, saying that Tehran welcomes media communications with the Balkan nation.

Minchev, for his part, emphasized that his visit to Iran and the talks he held with Iranian officials have been very fruitful.
