Navy Commanders of Caspian Sea Littoral States to Meet in Russia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A meeting between navy commanders of the Caspian Sea littoral states is planned to be held for the first time in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

A high-ranking delegation headed by Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari raised the proposal for a meeting of navy commanders in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.

The proposal was raised on the sidelines of a visit to the ongoing 7th International Maritime Defense Show biannually held in Saint Petersburg.

Iranian Navy's Technical Affairs Chief Rear Admiral Abbas Zamini hailed the show as a very good opportunity to get familiar with the latest maritime military technologies.

Rear Admiral Sayyari is due to meet and confer with his counterparts from Russia and other world countries.

Navy commanders of Caspian Sea littoral states are scheduled to discuss the security issues related to the sea on the sidelines of the show.

The Seventh International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS-2015) is underway under the Russian Federation Government's order from July 1 to 5.

The organizer of IMDS-2015 is the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The Exhibition is held with participation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation, the Government of St. Petersburg and Rosoboronexport OJSC. The Exhibition Operator is Morskoy Salon JSC.
