Syrian President Congratulates Iran on Nuclear Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad offered his congratulations to Iran over the country's Tuesday agreement with six world powers, which was reached after 22 months of diplomatic negotiations on Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.

In separate messages to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Assad hailed the long-awaited agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran and the Group 5+1 concluded more than two weeks of talks over Tehran’s nuclear program in Vienna on Tuesday in a final round a senior Iranian lawmaker described as "successful".

The negotiating parties reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive deal on Tehran’s nuclear program after 22 months of talks.
