Iranian, German Ministers Discuss Closer Cooperation in Energy Projects
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and German Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel, in a meeting in Tehran on Monday, explored avenues for the promotion of mutual cooperation between the two countries in water and electricity projects.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chitchian said Iranian and German companies have had numerous instances of successful cooperation over the past years.
He added that the development of Iran's power plants' capacity can provide good ground for the promotion of cooperation with Germany in the water and electricity industries.
Iran plans to increase the capacity of its power plants by 37,000 megawatts in the next five years, he noted.
Gabriel, who also serves as the German minister for economic affairs and energy, arrived in Tehran on Monday to hold talks on ways to promote Tehran-Berlin relations in diverse economic and political areas.
The visit came days after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear program.
The text of the comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
