Three Iranian Athletes Book Rio Places

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Three Iranian athletes earned places at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro at the International Meeting XXV G Kosanov in Kazakhstan.

Sprinter Hassan Taftian and Reza Ghasemi earned Olympics spots, clocking 10:10 and 10:14 in the 100m respectively.

Iranian woman shot putter Leila Rajabi also qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games with a throw of 18:04 meters.

Gusman Kosanov was a Soviet athlete who competed mainly in the 100 meters. He competed for the USSR in the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome, Italy in the 4 x 100 meter relay where he won the silver medal with his team mates Leonid Bartenev, Yuriy Konovalov and Edvin Ozolin.
