4 European States Ready for Environmental Cooperation with Iran: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iran’s Department of Environment (DOE) Masoumeh Ebtekar announced that a number of European countries have expressed their readiness to work with Iran in the field of environmental protection.

“Four European countries so far have expressed their preparedness for environmental cooperation with Iran,” Ebtekar said in a Monday press conference in Iranian western city of Yasuj.

The four countries are Italy, France, Norway, and Poland, she said, adding that a huge part of the country’s environmental challenges would be resolved through interaction with these and other states.

The four countries would cooperate with Iran in air purification, modern farm and greenhouse irrigation methods and plans, and providing access to advanced technologies, especially in optimized water and power consumption, Ebtekar said.

Last week, a meeting was held between Ebtekar and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius during which environmental issues were discussed.

Earlier in April, Ebtekar had also held a meeting with Italian Environment Minister Gian Luca Galletti in Tehran, where the two stressed the need for boosting Tehran-Rome cooperation in various environmental fields.
