Kuwait Starts Trial of 29 Charged over Mosque Suicide Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The criminal court in Kuwait began on Tuesday the legal proceeding for 29 defendants accused of being linked to an explosion in the country more than a month a go.

The attack which occurred in Kuwait City on June 26th, left 26 people killed and 227 others injured.

On July 14th the public prosecution referred the defendants to the criminal court for trial.

Seven Kuwaitis, five Saudis, three Pakistanis, 13 illegal residents, and a fugitive defendant, whose nationality has not been yet disclosed, were accused of targeting the mosque.

The charges against the defendants include use of explosives, incitement to commit crime and affiliation to a banned group that adopts extremist views which contradicts the state’s policies, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Tuesday.
