US Opinion Polls’ Results about Iran Nuclear Deal Skewed: Report
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – US polling institutes have reported conflicting results about American public opinion on the conclusion of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Tehran and world powers.
According to a report by Politico.com on August 3, US-based polling stations have released conflicting accounts of what American people think about the Iran nuclear agreement.
A week ago, for example, an Economist/YouGov poll showed that 51 percent of Americans support the agreement. On Monday morning, however, Quinnipiac released a poll showing 57 percent of Americans oppose it. Then, a few hours later, a Wall Street Journal/NBC poll came out showing that Americans are evenly divided: one-third back the deal, one-third oppose it, and one-third don’t know enough to offer an opinion.
The report added, “The differences go beyond the usual explanations of margin of error or differences in sampling, yet the results are being selectively touted….favorable to their cause.”
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.
