Iran Outlasts Tunisia at FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Tunisia 3-1(25-17, 21-25, 25-14, 25-20) in the first round of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup at the Hamamatsu Arena in Shizuoka, Japan, on Wednesday.

Ghafour’s 24 points was built from 19 kills, three blocks and two service aces, while Marouen Garci led Tunisia with 21 points.

Iran lost to Argentina 3-1 on Tuesday.

Team Melli will meet Venezuela on Thursday.

The tournament is a qualification process for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The top two teams will qualify for the Olympics and join Brazil as it has already secured a berth as the host country.

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup began on September 8 in Japan and will finish on September 23.
