Iran, Austria Ink 8 Cooperation Agreements to Boost Academic Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Representatives of top Iranian and Austrian universities signed eight cooperation agreements on Tuesday as part of efforts to promote academic cooperation between the two countries.

The documents were signed during a meeting between Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi and Austria’s Vice-Chancellor and Economy Minister Reinhold Mitterlehner in Tehran on Tuesday.

In his remarks in the meeting, Farhadi praised bilateral relations between the two countries and said in Iranians’ view, Austria is a country with rich culture, civilization and technology.

The Austrian minister is a member of a high-ranking delegation accompanying President Heinz Fischer on his Iran visit.

The senior officials arrived in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Monday afternoon for an official three-day trip.

The Austrian president, whose country played host to several rounds of marathon nuclear negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), had earlier expressed the confidence that the visit would bring the Iranian and Austrian nations closer together.
