Iran’s 8-Month Steel Output Tops 10mln Tons

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s steel production in the first eight months of 2015 exceeded 10 million tons, according to a report by the World Steel Association.

Based on the released data, Iran’s crude steel production in the first eight months of this year stood at 10.894 million tons, showing a 2.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The data came as it was reported last month that the output in the first seven months of 2015 had risen by 3.7 percent from 9.305 million tons in the corresponding period last year.

According to the figures, world crude steel production for the 65 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 132.337 million tons in August 2015, showing a 3% decline compared to the same month in 2014.

The World Steel Association is one of the largest and most dynamic industry associations in the world. It represents approximately 170 steel producers -including 9 of the world's 10 largest steel companies- national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. Its members represent around 85% of world steel production.
