Iran’s First VP to Visit Yerevan: Oil Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said the country’s First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri plans to pay a visit to the northern neighboring country of Armenia in the near future.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Armenian Energy Minister Yervand Zakharyan on Sunday, Namdar Zanganeh said the visit will take place after an official visit to Tehran by the Armenian Prime Minister.

Zanganeh also announced that Tehran will boost its gas exports to Armenia and import electricity.

Earlier on Sunday, Zakharyan met and conferred with the Iranian oil minister in Tehran.

According to a report by Shana, Tehran and Yerevan signed an official agreement for the export of Iran's gas to Armenia in 2004.

Based on the agreement, Iran's natural gas is used by Armenian power plants to generate electricity and in return, Armenia exports electricity to Iran.
