Iranians Snatch Four Gold Medals at Asian Bench Press Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Four Iranian athletes claimed the gold medals at the Asian Bench Press Championships being held in Muscat, Oman.

In the men’s -93kg competition, Iran’s Majid Hajiaghabozorg claimed the gold medal, lifting 285 kg. The second place went to Kazakhstan’s Ruslan Sadykov (232.5 kg) while Iran’s Farhad Saghaei (225 kg) took the bronze.

In the men’s Masters 1 -93kg category, Iran’s Mohammad Reza Khosravi bagged the gold with a 197.5kg lift while India’s Uday Kumar took bronze with a 165kg lift.

In the men’s Masters 3 -93kg event, Esmaeil Fotovvat from Iran seized a gold medal with a 115kg lift. Iraq’s Faleh Al Jumaili (110 kg) and Pakistan’s Sohail Butt (60 kg) won silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the men’s -105kg open competition, Kazakhstan’s Arslan Suyunshaliev won gold with a 290kg lift. Iran’s Hossien Karimi took silver after lifting 250kg while Mongolian Barkhasbaatar Lkhagvajav settled for bronze with a 230kg lift.

In the men’s Masters 1 -105kg competition, Reza Saghaei of Iran won the gold with a 229.5kg lift. The silver and bronze medals went to Pakistan’s Mahmood Hira (120 kg) and Syed Nadeem Hashmi (100 kg).
