Seven Weightlifters to Represent Iran at IWF World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will participate in the 2015 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships with seven athletes.

Iranian super heavyweight lifter Behdad Salimi will miss the competition since he is facing up to six months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The Iranian team: Majid Askari (62kg), Jaber Behrouzi (67kg), Rasoul Taghian (77kg), Kianoush Rostami (85kg), Ali Hashemi (94kg), Nawab Nasir Shalal (105kg), Bahador Molaei (+105kg).

The competition is the most important milestone on the road leading to Rio Olympic Games.

The 82nd Men’s World Weightlifting Championships will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, USA from November 20 to 28.

A total of 745 athletes from 105 countries will compete in the competition.
