Tehran, Moscow Discuss Fordo Facility Reconstruction: Rosatom

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two senior officials of Russia’s State Corporation on Atomic Energy, Rosatom, met and conferred with respective Iranian authorities over restructuring of the country’s Fordo nuclear site for stable isotope production, a statement by the company announced.

According to the statement, the issues of implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Tehran and world powers as well as rebuilding the country’s Fordo nuclear site were discussed during a meeting between Iran's Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and Rosatom’s Deputy Director General for International Affairs Nikolai Spassky and Deputy Head of Russia's Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Oversight Service Aleksey Ferapontov on November 11-12.

"Questions of implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the recent nuclear deal) was discussed in detail, as provided for by the UN Security Council Resolution 2231,” the statement which was released on Friday said, Sputnik reported.

“We looked into approaches to restructuring the Fordo site for stable isotope production. Signs of real progress were evident,” it added.

The Russian officials also held talks with the country's Head of Nuclear Safety Center Naser Rastkhah, the report added.

Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany- also known as P5+1 or E3+3) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

The nuclear deal would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
