British Parliamentary Delegation to Arrive in Iran Friday

British Parliamentary Delegation Due in Iran Friday

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A delegation of British parliamentarians headed by Chair of the British Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Crispin Blunt will pay a visit to Iran later this week.

The British parliamentary delegation will arrive in the Iranian capital on Friday, November 20.

The three-day trip will come at the invitation of Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

Blunt is scheduled to meet with Boroujerdi, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani, and the head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati.

He will also hold talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi, Deputy Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Iravani, and former Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi on Tehran-London bilateral ties.

The visit comes against a backdrop of international enthusiasm for enhanced ties with Iran following the conclusion of nuclear talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

The nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
