Leader’s Letter New Basis for Islam-West Interaction: Speaker

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s recent letter to the Western youth has formed a new basis for interaction between the Islamic world and the West, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said.

“The letter is based upon rationality, truth and respect for cultures,” Larijani said in an open session of the parliament on Sunday, referring to a November 29 letter that Ayatollah Khamenei sent to the youth in Western countries.

Larijani noted that the letter exposed the “modern hypocrisy” hidden behind the “arrogant nature of the big powers” and shed light on major parts of the reality.

In the recent letter, Ayatollah Khamenei has called on the Western youth “to lay the foundations for a correct and honorable interaction with the Islamic world based on correct understanding, deep insight and lessons learned from horrible experiences.”

It came against the backdrop of a renewed wave of attempts in the West to spread Islamophobia after a string of terrorist attacks claimed by Daesh (ISIL) shocked Paris on November 13.

Larijani further took a swipe at certain powers for pursuing hegemonic plots under the pretext of launching military campaigns against terrorism.

“Countering terrorism materializes through respect for Muslims’ rights not through support for petty dictators,” the speaker stressed.
